Before Halloween was over, our daughter had already moved on to Christmas. She wanted to be Santa Claus. She greeted as many neighbors with, “Ho!Ho!Ho!,” as she did “Trick or Treat.” We keep telling her – you’re forgetting something!
Thanksgiving comes before Christmas.
Gratitude before gifts.
Let’s Feast. That’s what we’re leaning into this November. We invite you to lean into gratitude and hosting with us.
Sundays we’re leaning into the practice of Communion. Jesus is the consummate host. He both sets the table for us and invites us to know that he is with us in the bread and wine. If it’s been a while since you’ve been with us on a Sunday, come and worship. Let Jesus set the table for you again.
The Feast of Abundance is moving from the school cafeteria into homes this year. We continue to lean into our feasts as an opportunity to share meals with our neighbors and:
to remember what is true: God is a God of abundance! We share a common feast liturgy to remember how radically wonderful it is that God promises “All will be well.”
to share good food: Jesus was known for being on his way to a meal, hosting meals, and making room for others. We experience Jesus when we extend this same ministry.
to provide for our neighbors: Each feast will be an opportunity to come with food and fill our local food pantries.
Please let us extend a personal invitation to you from one of our hosts. Let us know you’d like to come and which dates work best for you.
Thanksgiving Day we love to walk before we feast. We are hosting our sixth annual Thanksgiving Walk/Run out of 703 Kitsap St. It’s more family stroll than race. We love kicking off a day of feasting together. After walking downtown we enjoy cinnamon rolls and watching the Macy’s Day parade. We hope you join us!
One of our hosts is hosting a Thanksgiving Day dinner! So please allow us to extend a personal invitation to you to spend Thanksgiving with us! Again - let us know here if you’d like to come.
Thank you to Chapel Hill for launching a month of feasting! Last week more than 50 people came to 703 Kitsap St, Cedar Heights, and Mitchell to pray and serve and feast! Each time of service ended with chili and/or cookies. Thank you, Chapel Hill, for serving our neighbors with us!
Gratefully,
Pastor Megan
