Everything changed in 10 Minutes – Come Celebrate!!
Walking an unfamiliar downtown street on September 6, 2018, I felt compelled by a house we had just walked by. I asked Stormi and Larry to back up with me. We looked up at a neglected house, overrun by landscaping and windows boarded up. My gut told me something was wrong – but I also had an overwhelming sense of hope and life. Having walked with Jesus a number of years, I’d call that the voice of the Spirit. And hindsight shows me that indeed, God was inviting me that day to see one particular house on Kitsap St with his eyes.
We prayed for God to breathe new life into it, and now here I am in its front room typing this email. That prayer on September 6, 2018, happened in the middle of a prayer walk but those few moments have had such a profound ripple effect that it continues to astound my imagination. It could not have been more than 10 minutes that we stopped and prayed over the building – maybe even less than 5?! But less than 3 years later I’d be calling a friend and asking him to invest in the Kingdom here in Port Orchard by purchasing this building.
This is a special weekend for us at Kitsap House. We’re celebrating the Feast of Restoration — the 8th year milestone since we first prayed over 703 Kitsap St.
You’re invited! Come live the power of God to bring restoration by walking in through that once run down front door. Come and see the life that now happens inside this building.
We have three intentions for the feast. I hope you feel prompted with each to carve out some time and extend an invitation to join us!
To share the story of restoration — and see people’s hope restored in God’s power to bring renewal to people and to places. Who can you invite who needs to hear a story of restoration?
To share good food — and connect with neighbors and friends - and to let them in on the joy of the Kitsap House community. Who needs a meal and a connection?
To share what we have with those in need — by providing for kids in our local schools through a drive for Communities in Schools. Can you pick up a package of kids’ socks, shoes, or laundry detergent to share? Or consider if this is a year you could volunteer once a week in a local school. We’ll connect you Sunday!
The feast this year is open house style. (I saw that bring relief to a neighbor! No one’s stuck for a couple hours ;) Just come on through.) This Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 12-2pm.
