Owning Mitchell House
New ownership and a fresh purpose hang on the letterboard at 1153 Mitchell Ave.: "Restoring Hope." We hope the restored building will be a clear example of the restoration Jesus offers.
Joy poured out of me Wednesday as I picked up the title and asked for help picking up bubbly beverages and gathered on the front porch to toast te amazing gift God has given us.
It’s not just the building. I’m overjoyed by the community that the Spirit has formed at Kitsap House. I am so hopeful for what partnership in the neighborhood around Mitchell will look like. I’m so, so grateful for the skill sets and dreams, the words of God spoken to friends, the financial resources, the churches, who have come together to make the purchase happen.
May we take the time to soak in that joy, that gratitude, that holy wonder together!
You have the opportunity to come and help us take ownership of the property.
We have stashed chalk at the property on the north side under the ramp by the “KH” (see the photo, below). Please come by and chalk a message on the driveway (which has been recently pressure washed thanks to Ariel, Rod, Jeff, Gloria, Gene, Bob. Thank you!).
Consider writing:
“Thank you________”... to the neighbors who have cared for the property all these years and built the building originally; to God who provided the resources and timing (and all things)
“I look forward to______-”… with some of your dreams
Or a favorite Scripture to lift up in prayer, maybe one about who God is or how he sees us
We’ll keep the chalk stashed at least through August.
If you want to keep up with the Mitchell House project, here’s a landing page to pin yourself or to share with others. If you want to jump in on a work crew (usually Tuesdays/Saturdays) or have a unique skill to offer, please contact Jeff Stewart.
“Give thanks to the LORD! For he is Good.
His steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalm 107:1
With great rejoicing,
Megan
The box of chalk can be found “hidden” here on the north side of the property - please be sure to return it when you visit.
