A reason to feast
School, and therefore the transition to fall rhythms, only just began last week, but at 703 we’ve already had nights of prayer in the living room, many meals shared, and days full of meetings and laughter and work. The house has already been full with people gathering and sharing life, and we look forward to all the gatherings to come – but 703 wasn’t always a place where meals and life were shared. There was a time when the house was broken, burned out and empty. But that wasn’t the end of the story. 703 has a story of restoration, of once being destroyed and broken and being restored to a place for people to live, eat, work and play in.
We love these stories of restoration and each year, at our annual Feast of Restoration, which is happening on September 7th, we remember the restoration story of 703. Not only do we remember the story, we celebrate with a feast, because we believe that God is a God of restoration, that he has and is at work restoring us, our neighborhoods and the world.
This is a reason to feast! So each year we gather together to remember and celebrate the ways we have seen God at work in restoration. And we anticipate and hope for restoration to come.
And because we trust that God is currently at work in our lives, in our neighborhoods and in the world in restoration work, we also make a practice to lean in to where we see restoration happening. This last year we’ve gotten to partner with Communities in Schools of Peninsula, a nonprofit who works in the schools to build connections within the community to provide support and meet the needs of kids and families. This year, we want to lean in even further, which is why we are partnering with Communities in Schools of Peninsula (CISP) for our Feast of Restoration and provide them with some essentials they need to be able to fill the gaps for kids and families who need it.
So come feast with us this Sunday! We will be gathering in the back alley of 703 at 12, sharing food, playing games and remembering the story of restoration at 703. We also will get to lean in together in holding space for the restoration we anticipate and hope for still.
Invite a friend and if you can, bring a dish for burgers and hotdogs to share and consider a donation to CISP (see the list below). Come and enjoy a reason to feast – God has worked and is at work in restoration.
